In the wind, she would flutter a ton
Some may even have thought it looked fun
But poor Galloping Gertie
Never made it to thirty
Nor twenty, nor fifteen, nor one

I am curious about why a bridge is called “she”, not “he”. Also, how to determine the gender of an object when you write??

Well, Gertie is a girl’s name (though a fairly old-fashioned one).
Typically, men refer to to objects as “she” when they want to deal with them in a somewhat romantic way. I’m not sure under what circumstances an object would regularly be referred to as “he.”
