This Day in History Entry #4

Having lost at Drepana before
At Aegusa Rome settled the score
Catulus stripped his fleet
Great Hanno met defeat
And thus ended the First Punic War

    Nice.

You don’t see a lot of limericks about the First Punic War anymore. Now, the Second Punic War, you’ve got Hannibal, the elephants, the Battle of Cannae (diagrammed by my Classics professor as a football play involving Hannibal luring the Romans into the backfield and cutting them down with a trap block), etc.

But the First Punic War, not so much.

    Thanks.
